My Experience

Experienced and Qualified English Teacher

I have been teaching online ESL since 2013, working with children and teenagers in online programs and private one-to-one lessons. Much of that work has been with native Chinese-speaking students, from beginning readers to confident writers and advanced speakers.

I combine a B.A. in English, a Philosophy minor, a 120-hour TEFL certification, and years of curriculum development to build structured CEFR-aligned lessons that connect reading, writing, listening, speaking, grammar, and vocabulary.

Warm enough to encourage. Structured enough to work.

Across 13 years of online ESL teaching experience, I have worked one-to-one with children and teenagers, helping students become stronger readers, clearer speakers, more confident writers, and more independent thinkers.

My teaching system was first developed for native Chinese-speaking learners and can be adapted thoughtfully for students from other language backgrounds. It is built from connected lessons—not isolated chats—so each new skill has a clear place in the student’s wider progress.

Over time, I have created hundreds of structured lessons across story-based reading, phonics, comprehension, grammar, vocabulary, speaking, writing, and advanced academic practice. The aim is always the same: lessons that feel personal and enjoyable while still giving families a clear path forward.

The human side of learning

Focused lessons can still feel joyful.

English grows best when students feel comfortable enough to try, make mistakes, ask questions, and speak up. A welcoming lesson can be serious about progress without becoming stiff or intimidating.

That balance—clear goals, patient correction, and genuine encouragement—is part of what helps students stay engaged over the long term.

Professional history

A career centered on students and learning.

The strongest thread through these roles is work with children, language development, thoughtful lesson planning, and clear communication with families and fellow educators.

What my experience means for your student

Experience should improve the lesson your student receives.

Extensive experience with Chinese-speaking learners

Years of teaching native Chinese speakers have made recurring challenges in grammar, pronunciation, vocabulary, sentence construction, speaking confidence, reading, and writing easier to recognize—while every student is still treated as an individual.

Structured long-term learning

Lessons belong to a connected CEFR A1–C2 curriculum. Grammar, vocabulary, reading, writing, listening, and speaking reinforce one another instead of becoming unrelated conversation sessions.

Experience across ages and levels

Work with young children, school-age learners, teenagers, beginners, and stronger academic students has built flexibility without sacrificing clear goals.

Individualized private teaching

The pace, question difficulty, review, reading level, grammar goals, and vocabulary load can change according to what one student needs on that particular day.

Direct parent communication

Parents can share goals and receive direct, practical feedback about progress, recurring challenges, and useful next steps.

Curriculum and material development

I have extensive experience creating PowerPoint lessons, reading activities, writing exercises, grammar instruction, vocabulary practice, and original illustrations. Modern AI tools support material creation; teaching judgment determines what belongs in the lesson.

Teaching judgment

Experience matters most when it changes how you teach.

Years of teaching have refined how I choose the right difficulty, decide when to help and when to wait, ask stronger questions, recognize recurring mistakes, build review, and gradually make students more independent.
